Registration of General Power of Attorney
A Power of Attorney can be useful when the parties to a transaction for the sale of property will be unavailable for a certain amount of time or where one of the parties is domiciled outside of South Africa.
A General Power of Attorney will grant the power to perform a variety of tasks on behalf of the grantor to a specific party. The General Power of Attorney must be registered in the Deeds Office and allocated a registration number, which can be used for all future property transactions in the same Deeds Registry.
